Joom Cottage

A stilted timber cottage facing east, built the way the hills have always been farmed.

Joom Cottage takes its name from the terraced hill farming of the Bandarban ranges. The cottage stands on timber stilts at the edge of the ridge, so the deck floats over the valley with nothing in front of it but sky. Inside, a king bed sits under a sloped wooden ceiling, with a writing desk by the window and a rain shower finished in local stone. Sunrise hits this cottage first.
